About The Barefoot OT

Having dedicated nearly a decade to Mental Health services, I recognised the profound absence of nature therapy in the system. After completing my dissertation on the transformative benefits seen in countries like Japan, Korea, and the Scandinavian nations, I was driven to integrate this knowledge into the services I was part of. Despite facing the formidable barrier of financial constraints, I then experienced my own burnout.

 

This led to a resurgence of my ADHD symptoms, which I had previously managed well. In my journey to rebuild, I turned to the local natural environment around me, finding solace where local services fell short. My experiences ignited a passion for prevention strategies, emphasising the significance of sustaining mental health and focusing on crisis prevention. Through the healing power of nature, combined with my understanding of energy work and druidry, I emerged stronger. I have now crafted an adaptable occupational therapy program aimed at those who struggle with a rigid system. My programs are meticulously designed to offer a personalised navigator, dedicated to overcoming mental health challenges, burnout, and ADHD struggles.

The Journey

My journey into mental health has felt like destiny, rooted in a desire to help others, influenced by witnessing childhood friends struggle and facing my own challenges with dyslexia in the eighties and nineties, before it was officially recognised in English schools.

Recognising my empathy and calm nature, I ventured to Uganda as a teenager, where I taught and built, which transformed my perspective on the world. There are countless approaches to mental health, each effective in different ways for various individuals. My introduction to the enlightening healing element of Reiki came after my first degree. In India, I met my spiritual teacher, Baba Jay, whose guidance continues to illuminate my spiritual path and my connection to Shiva Shakti. Over the years, I have embraced the healing power available to me and now offer energy alignments at festivals, private events, and day events.

 

I provide corporate nature engagement days and collaborate with charities to support those facing barriers to essential services. My one on one nature engagement sessions for mental health allow for personalised, meaningful work. As I grow in knowledge, I continually develop my practice. Nature has always held a deep significance for me; it brings a sense of joy and calm. I learned that neglecting my time in nature adversely affected my mental health. Seeking help from traditional services, I often felt like an outsider, encountering long waiting lists and rigid categorisation. This realisation sparked the creation of my own healing system, giving rise to "The Barefoot OT."

 

Today, alongside my extensive experience in mental health and my deep connection to energy work, I am studying Druidry to explore further the benefits of nature and its connection to the spiritual realm. I understand that private services can be financially challenging, so I strive to keep my prices accessible. I welcome the opportunity for conscious exchanges of services or goods.
